Sustainable Sacramento Grants
Proceeds from the River City Run are used to fund the Sustainable Sacramento Grant Program that provides financial assistance to projects that promote sustainable living in the Sacramento Metro area. Grants are awarded to local projects in amounts up to $1,500. SIERRA CLUB SACRAMENTO GROUP

DAVID REESE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
Build organic garden. Children learn to work the earth, and how their food grows.

Project Yes (Youth Education & Stewardship), to educate the public, especially youth, of importance
of preserving open space.

SUSTAINABLE URBAN GARDENS
Expand website & materials to educate people on benefits of earth-friendly, health inducing plants, & benefits of gardening.

Support sustainable growing practices, workshops, promote buying local in Del Paso Heights & Strawberry Manor.

SACRAMENTO CHAPTER CALIFORNIA NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY
Create a non-profit nursery that will supply native plants for American River Parkway, other parks and schools; promote awareness of benefits of native plants.


FRIENDS OF THE SWAINSON’S HAWK
Expand educational materials to provide the public and include materials in Spanish for Children.

Sustain the voluntary program to promote sustainable business practices.

MOTHERS SUPPORT NETWORK
Start a Cloth Diaper Program to educate parents and provide discounted cloth diapers.

CHILDREN’S GLOBAL GARDEN
A joint program of Fruitridge Manor Neighborhood Association & Peter Burnett Elementary School. Establishing a 4,000 sq ft school / neighborhood garden to teach children about their food, & increase habitat.

LUTHER BURBANK HIGH SCHOOL ART DEPARTMENT
Exemplary Achievement in developing animated public service announcements with environmental themes.

DEL PASO BLVD GREEN SPACE PROJECTS
Plant fifteen native trees and one hundred plants, install irrigation, and sow wildflowers at blighted vacant lot to bring green space to neighborhood that lacks them.

FREMONT COMMUNITY GARDEN
Build compost area, create Children’s garden & plant fruit trees.
